Meet Dr. Berls

Dr. Robert Berls is a Board Certified Endodontist. He grew up in Rochester, NY and moved to the capital district in 2003. He graduated Cum Laude from Yale University in 1996 with a B.S. in Biology and was a four-year member of the men’s lacrosse team where he earned All-Ivy and All-America honors in 1996. He went on to attend dental school at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he graduated Suma Cum Laude and was the recipient of 5 awards including the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Award, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Certificate of Merit awarded to the top 5 graduating members of the senior class. Dr. Berls completed a General Practice Residency at Buffalo General Hospital in 2001 where he gained considerable experience in endodontics, oral surgery, and oral medicine. He then returned to the school of dental medicine from 2001-2003 where he received his certificate of proficiency in the specialty of endodontics and completed a Master of Science degree in oral diagnostics and oral medicine. Since moving to the capital district in 2003, Dr. Berls has been in private practice and has served as part time faculty at Ellis Hospital in the dental residency program. He was president of the Schenectady County Dental Society in 2007 and was the president of the 4th distrit dental society of New York State in 2022.  He was inducted into the International College of Dentists USA in 2021, the preeminent honor society for dentist in the world.  He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, and the American Board of Endodontics. He currently resides with his wife, Dr. Lisa Berls, in Saratoga Springs.
